Great Things are Growing in Perry

Remember the Chocolate Walk in Perry last February? On Saturday, May 5th, from 10:00-4:00, travel from shop-to-shop collecting free seed packets or seedlings for “Great Things are Growing in Perry”, an event sponsored by the Perry Area Retail Group.

Art on the Prairie will host one of the stops this year in the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building at the northeast corner of 1st and Willis. Look for our Art on the Prairie banner on the sidewalk in front of the building. Not only will you receive a free flower seedling, but a chance to see the work of five talented artists:

        Jeff Bower—wood

        Colleen Eckhoff—needle-felted creations

        Carolyn Guay—tessellations in colored pencil

Angie Lambert—Recycks, creations from recycled fabric

       Cindy Skeie—photography

Stop at Hartman’s Floral and Greenhouse for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate.

Call the Perry Area Chamber for more information at 515-465-4601.

Garden Party

If November seems a long way off, we invite you to a Taste of Art on the Prairie at our Garden Party, Thursday, May 10, from 5:00-8:00, presented by Mary Rose Collection, 1215 Warford Street in Perry, www.maryrosecollection.com. Join us for a spring celebration and learn how you can help support Art on the Prairie.

Nine talented guest artists will set-up booths along the garden beside Mary Rose and inside the shop:

        Michelle Carver—jewelry

        Lisa Cooper—watercolor

        Sally Farley—fiber arts, spinning demonstrations

        Jenni Gavin—painting

        Kim Hutchison—“JBirdstitch” creations

Angie Lambert—Recycks, creations from recycled fabric

        Lisa Mills—mosaics

        Wendy Rains—lampwork jewelry demonstrations

        Kathy Strohl—photography, graphic arts

Linger at tables and chairs along the garden. Sample sweet treats by Bethany Wicks (Auntie B’s Creations) and appetizers and beverages, compliments of the Art on the Prairie Committee. Enjoy Bluegrass music by Doug Nichols, Chris Nichols, and Brad Kiefer. Sign up for prize drawings.

Find more art from area artists, many from Art on the Prairie, inside Mary Rose while listening to the hammered dulcimer played by Laura McCord.
