As a collector of beautiful things, I use found fabric and and other found objects to my mixed media acrylic paintings. As I work I love pondering the history and origin of the fabric I'm using and let the colors and pattern often dictate the direction of the piece. I also enjoy taking cues and beauty from nature and incorporate that into my work as well- sometimes recognizable imagery and other times very small natural suggestions from the minute details and patterns I find in nature. |

Iowa native and animal lover, Michael Lundberg, received her bachelor's and master's degree in painting and 2-D mixed media from Iowa State University. Her passion for horses and Spanish art history led her to live in Salamanca, Spain, for six years working on a doctorate degree in art history at the Universidad de Salamanca. Michael has always loved nature, animals and telling visual tales. Her work varies greatly in subject matter and medium: from landscapes and animal portraits to illustration and abstract art; Michael is constantly changing and challenging herself artistically. Recently, she has been participating in the Inktober drawing challenges on Instagram. Following designated weekly and daily prompts have encouraged her artistic productivity, creativity and development while interacting with artists around the world.

As a mixed media artist, I tell stories and entice a sense of adventure. My work is multi layered and full of symbolism. Using vintage paper from found books, magazines, postcards along with painting and drawing with ink I create abstract art rich with history, travel and wonder. Mostly in black, white, grays and sometimes browns, my work has a very modern vintage style. My art exists to honor life experiences and meaningful moments through visual storytelling.
