I am a self-taught seamstress who values attention to detail, customer service, and keeping fine craft alive and well. I design and stitch one-of-a-kind accessories for you and your home from repurposed felted wool, vintage linens, vintage findings, and other repurposed materials. I am inspired by color and texture as well as the whimsical imaginations of my daughters. You will see a mix of items in my booth ranging from useful bags to accessories to cheerful plush animal pillows. I source materials and stitch all week. Then I enjoy meeting my customers face to face when I travel around Iowa to art, craft, and vintage events.
I offer a wide array of products including large wool shoulder bags, cross body messenger bags, wool brooches, wool mittens, cashmere scarves, wool plush animal pillows, repurposed vintage planter pincushions, and many other unique products. My product prices range from $10-$110 |

Living in Iowa, nature is most often my muse, but trips to New York City to visit family, as well as other urban landscapes, has offered unique experiences and perspective to my work, which is an expression of how I experience my environment.
I find great pleasure at the sewing machine creating objects both functional and nonfunctional. Fabric has a versatility unlike any other medium. I love changing the surface of the fabric using dye, paint, stitch and other elements to create one-of-a-kind works of art. |

Betty Chamness Trost of Three Smooth Stones Studio in Des Moines has a fondness for stones, wool fiber, textures, and bright colors. From her native Oregon Coast she collects smooth stones selecting each for shape, then surrounds them with wool fiber using the wet-felting technique and hand embroiders them in colorful garden designs. On the round stones she paint mesmerizing mandala designs using dots of acrylic paint. Each of her stone pieces are hand made and fit beautifully into the palm of your hand for soothing comfort and meditation. She creates felted pictures using wool fibers and needle and wet-felting techniques, free motion machine quilting, hand embroidery, silk fibers, and beads. And she knits, then wet-felts luscious wool slippers for men and women. The best part of her day is engaging with people and enjoying their excitement at seeing her creations.
