Town/Craft (1122 Willis Avenue)
The center for Town/Craft is an alliance of Hometown Perry, Iowa, the College of Design at Iowa State University, ISU Extension Community and Economic Development for the purpose of identifying and developing new "ideas and strategies that strengthen small communities". Housed in refurbished historic buildings across from the restored Carnegie Library in Perry, Town/Craft combines the resources of the cultural studies of Hometown Perry, Iowa, the multidimensional outreach network of Iowa State University Extension, and the students, staff and faculty of a nationally prominent school of design into a comprehensive vehicle for envisioning a sustainable future for Iowa towns and surrounding landscapes.
Town/Craft is a venture that welcomes the widest possible diversity of perspectives. The center expects to include the knowledge, wisdom and creative energy of the arts, sciences, liberal studies, politics, economics, entrepreneurship and, most important, the real and virtual citizenry of our Iowa towns as it pursues its mission.

Carnegie Library (1123 Willis Avenue)
Visitors to Hometown Perry often start their journey at the Carnegie Library Museum. Built in 1904 with a grant from Andrew Carnegie, the building initially served as the town’s public library. Now restored to its 1910 appearance, the building is on the National Register of Historic Places. Still a working library, its collection includes many of the library’s original 1,000 titles, as well as special collections of midwest literature, women’s fiction, children’s books, and books on literacy and libraries. Visitors can also explore HPI’s stories through temporary exhibits on view here. The Court Room on the basement level recreates a brief time in Perry’s history (1907-1917) when this room served as the town’s courthouse. Also on the basement level, the Women’s Room tells stories of the bonds formed between women who spent time here when they came into town from neighboring farms.
The Carnegie is available to rent for meetings and functions.

Art on the Prairie - an arts organization in Perry, IA that showcases Iowa artists - recently expanded it's offerings of hosting annual arts events and commissioning public art to also now include a double storefront space in Downtown Perry. One side houses a Challenge Proof Press and screen printing equipment and the other showcases local fiber and textile artists within a retail setting.
This new space is called Atelier at 1109, or "Workshop" in French at 1109, the space's address. It first opened in September 2019, just in time to be a stop on the 6th Annual Art Harvest Tour, but will officially open November 2019 as one of ten venues making up the Art on the Prairie festival.
While still evolving, Atelier at 1109 will become a space for workshops of all kinds, especially utilizing the printing presses. The coop-style artisan gallery for textiles and fibers features hand spun yarns, needle felting creations, and woven accessories, as well as materials for creating such things. Additionally, this new space serves as the official Art on the Prairie Headquarters, for all things Art on the Prairie-related!
