Small wood boxes that are very carefully constructed, often designed in my head on the fly, using the measure once - cut twice method to ensure they're unique. All hardwoods, no store bought hinges, no stains, and built to last.

I grew up in Colorado and at about 10 years of age began carving birds and animals, with a pocket knife, from branches I picked up on camping trips. I now use many types of wood using both hand and power tools. I attended Iowa State University and met my husband there. I recently retired from a career as a veterinary technician and live on a small dairy farm near Newton, Iowa, where I have a studio. I have a love of nature and try to make my sculptures as realistic as I can. When people see my work I like them to think about the animal represented there and perhaps be reminded of an event in their own lives. I take my inspiration from events from my own life -sights I have witnessed on the farm. When I work in wood I am reminded that this material was once a living thing, sheltering the living birds I try to represent. I feel that I am giving the wood new life through my sculptures.
