All designs are original. All woods are their natural colors and are nonendangered. All work done by applicant. All surfaces sanded to 0000 steel wool and finished with an oil finish. The work conveys a language of geometry, harmonious proportioning and striking color contrasts.

Facebook Koch Woodworking
Koch Woodworking specializes in making hand carved wooden bowls, trays and cribbage boards utilizing Iowa found wood and special memory woods. We collect wood from downed Iowa trees and demolished or remodeled Iowa buildings. We then use common hand and power carving tools to create wooden bowls, trays and cribbage boards. All our items are coated with a food safe finish and are suitable for everyday use, gifting or display. We now offer flight paddle boards.

Kent Ryan
Kent Ryan is a native Iowan and an avid history buff. He attended the University of Iowa majoring in journalism and psychology with a little art on the side. A part-time job in a local bakery led to a career in bakery management. As cake decorating was one of the required skills, he spent a lot of years drawing (with icing). A lifelong interest in woodworking and woodburning led to the founding of “Country Market” in 2006, during a work layoff. Ryan’s pictures combine his interest in Iowa History, old vehicles and trains, and visions of days gone by. He works from a combination of woodcut illustrations, old personal photos, and nostalgic memories. All the work is done by the artist by hand, Including production of many of the frames and all finishing. No computers are used in the production of this work. All pictures are made with a hand held tool, some are colored with acrylics, and all are finished with brushing lacquer.

Isaac Spain
My name is Isaac spain, I am 21 years old and I'm a custom carpenter and artist out of granger ia. The name of my business, broken by design, reflects on my work which is focused around using scrap wood, "broken", and thrown away materials to create something beautiful. Most of what I do is wooden wall art, painting, and some furniture and smaller wooden items. My mission is to show there is beauty and art even in broken and unwanted things and to use my art to give people hope.
