As a folk artist for the last 22 years i work with recycled barnboard and tin. l create nostalgic birdhouses replicating barns and other common country structures of Iowa from the past. During the past years my creations have been featured in several media including KCCI's Steve Karlin Covers Central Iowa, Midwest Living Magazine, Country Home Magazine and the Home and Garden Section of the Chicago Tribune. Along with my Birdhouse I have ventured into wooden jewelry and tableware sculptures and cigar box guitars.
Iowa born and raised on the farm is my inspiration behind the nostalgic barn and other country buildings of yesteryear. |

Larry Cook is a self-taught wood craftsman. His creations include both classic jewelry boxes and also unique, original designs. All designs original. All surfaces sanded to 0000 steel wool. All woods selected for their color. All work done by applicant. Business started in 1979 after working at the Amana Furniture shop in Iowa for 5 yrs. When not building commissioned furniture or abstract wall sculptures, I am making speculation pieces to market through my website and at various juried art fairs in the Midwest.

I began seriously wood working in 2020 and it quickly became my passion. I find great joy in working with the wood to bring out its hidden beauty. By not just cutting and sanding but using uv light and other natural methods I bring out the natural beauty of the wood without the use of stains.
My work is a mixture of cutting boards, charcuterie boards as well as themed and untreated wood art. My products are treated with a food safe cream that helps protect the wood but not be harmful |
