Copper, silver and brass bracelets, necklaces and earrings

Jen Lawler
www.jenlawlerdesigns.etsy.com

My jewelry is contemporary hand fabricated works of wearable art. Each piece of jewelry is created as a one of a kind mini sculpture. I primarily use sterling silver as my metal, adding in yellow and white gold when desired. I use many textures in my pieces to create depth and variances in the metal. I include natural pearls and gemstones to add that vibrancy of color when it suits the piece. I finish my pieces with either a high polish or a blackened and brushed finish.

I create one-of-a-kind jewelry using vintage rosaries, vintage jewelry, semi-precious stones, pearls, and found objects. I love working with pieces of broken vintage jewelry, re-purposing them to be cherished and worn again!

Kelly Moore

My name is Kelly Moore and I love to make jewelry. I started out cutting the ends off of old silverware forks or spoons and making bracelets, earrings, and pendants for necklaces.  I am always experimenting and trying new things,(plus i get bored easily,) so I have expanded into using copper and brass, porcelain, glass, rocks, and other found objects in my pieces. I also use my soldering iron or torch to fuse pieces together, have sliced hollow handle butter knives to make rings for necklaces and earrings, and used my diamond blade band saw to cut flattened spoons into the shapes I want.  Really its a lot of fun!  I love it when people bring me their old silverware and ask me to make them something cool.

Heather Morphew

Heather Morphew Nelson is a native of Madrid, Iowa and a graduate of Iowa State University. Coming from a long family line of artists, Heather's artistic abilities were nurtured from her youth. Like her father, Heather enjoys working with her hands to create functional, yet beautiful art. Heather specializes in custom design work. She designs and creates all pieces using precious and semi-precious stones, lampwork beads and sterling silver. Her expertise in metalsmithing, wire wrapping and lampwork make for truly unique and beautiful jewelry. All pieces are made using the highest quality of materials and are built to last a lifetime. Heather exhibits her artwork locally at Central Iowa Art Events and her work is currently on display at the East Village Day Spa, the Iowa Arboretum and the Octagon Center for the Arts. When she's not busy making jewelry she works as an Early Childhood Special Education Consultant for the AEA and also enjoys biking on beautiful Iowa trails, reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors.

Mary Nelson

I started making jewelry in 2010 after retiring from the Iowa Department of Human Services, and started Pauline's Jewelry Box in 2012. I take classes at the Des Moines Art Center and from local jewelry artists. I exhibit my jewelry at art shows, local Des Moines businesses (Dorothea's Closet and Beaverdale Books), the Botanical Gardens gift shop, trunk shows, and online. I also do custom work. I have always loved vintage, so when I started making jewelry I was drawn naturally towards using vintage elements and designing jewelry that has a vintage feel. I get my inspiration from nature; from the symbolic meanings associated with colors, gemstones, metals & charms; and from the objects themselves. I enjoy wire-wrapping, cold connections, resin casting, etching, stamping, forming metal, and soldering. My works vary from romantic to playful to edgy, but have a common theme of re-purposing and celebrating the past. I'm intrigued by the history and meaning of the objects I work with, and like to imagine the stories and memories each piece holds. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique and comes with a narrative that describes the meaning and/or origin of its components.

Connie Rodgers

My artwork is a representation of my favorite pastimes. I get most of my inspiration from nature, my extensive gardens, and a love of all things art nouveau. Vintage treasures collected on my travels abroad highlight my work. My designs combine brass I manipulate and hand age with my own Moretti glass lamp worked beads. Pearls, crystals, vintage gemstones and Czech glass beads complete the garden inspired designs. I have exhibited at the following venues: Oskaloosa, IA – Art on the Square Iowa city, IA – Thieves Art Market Des Moines, IA – Artfest Midwest Clear Lake, IA- Art Sail Valley Junction, IA- Art Market Burlington, IA- Snake Alley Art Fair De Forest, WI.- Dragon Art Fair

Suzanne LaTour Stevens

I design 3-dimensional beads and free-form shapes on my CAD program and print them on my Makerbot Replicator 2- 3D printer. I combine the printed shapes with sterling silver and 14K. gold-filled metals to make necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. I also combine the 3D work with my handmade glass beads which creates a very nice mix of old and new techniques.
