2022 Wood

Ken Bose | Jefferson
Skeeter Creek Fabricators

As a folk artist for the last 22 years i work with recycled barnboard and tin. l create nostalgic birdhouses replicating barns and other common country structures of Iowa from the past. During the past years my creations have been featured in several media including KCCI's Steve Karlin Covers Central Iowa, Midwest Living Magazine, Country Home Magazine and the Home and Garden Section of the Chicago Tribune. Along with my Birdhouse I have ventured into wooden jewelry and tableware sculptures and cigar box guitars.

Iowa born and raised on the farm is my inspiration behind the nostalgic barn and other country buildings of yesteryear.

Larry Cook | De Soto, WI
Kaba Arts, LLC

Larry Cook is an award winning wood craftsman. During two decades he earned numerous first place ribbons at the Iowa State Fair.  In 2003 his unusual small table won Best of Show at the Greater Des Moines Exhibited show in the Heritage Art Gallery. Many current pieces are standard jewelry boxes, while others are tiny keepsake boxes with either mechanical or whimsical features.  A native of Marshalltown, Iowa, he is now retired from the City of Des Moines and living in SW Wisconsin with his wife Trish Cook.

Just a humble, retired civil servant keeping busy by making sturdy, tricky, or amusing little boxes in unique designs from mid-western hardwoods.

Ernie & Claudia Koch | Fort Dodge
Koch Woodworking

Ernie has been carving wood since 2001.  He is a graduate if Southern Illinois University and worked in the animal health industry until retirement in 2005.  Since that time he has been actively involved in art and craft shows in Iowa and surrounding states.  Koch wood items are coated with a food safe finish and are made to be used on a daily basis.  We like to say that we carve memories to be passed from generation to generation.

Koch Woodworking manufactures hand carved bowls, trays, boxes and games from found woods from Iowa and other states that we visit.  All items are coated with food safe finish and are meant to be used on a daily basis.
