A wide variety of small hardwood boxes and other items. All are of original design, built in a random and painstaking manner, using proper techniques and quality materials. Joe Warnock continually seeks out unique woodworking projects to the extent that he can. He can occasionally be found chopping in old barns with a chainsaw, digging up old wood, and recycling it for new projects.
He describes his woodworking career as, "What started as a necessity, slipped into a hobby, and has turned into a raging mental illness." Joe grew up in Dawson, Iowa, but moved to Arizona shortly after high school and studied at Scottsdale University and Arizona State. He returned to Iowa, picked up woodworking, and trained with Mike Shibley, Dale Shirbroun, Mitch Shirbroun, and Brad Kiefer. |

I begin with my observations and reference photos and I pull different skills from my varied life experiences to bring the ingredients together to create my sculptures. I have a great love of all of nature - plants, animals, insects, snakes, etc. When people see my work, I'd like them to think about the living creatures represented there and maybe remember an occurrence in their own lives; hearing the meadowlark song at grandpa's farm or viewing the redwing blackbird perched on grasses along the roadside. I like the idea of taking something that was once living and giving it new life through my sculptures.
